On the evening of February 28th, 2014, at approximately 10:00 p.m. a male approached a female victim on the street in the area of Catherine Street North and Barton Street East, Hamilton. Following a brief conversation, the male suspect followed the female victim into her residence on Barton Street East.

Once inside, the female was attacked by the male with an edged weapon. Richard (Ricky) Doucette, who had been elsewhere in the premises, came to her assistance. As the suspect turned his attention to Ricky, the female managed to exit the residence. Shortly thereafter Ricky exited the residence and collapsed. The male suspect fled the area on foot, last seen running east along Barton Street East and then north in the vicinity of Mary Street.

Ricky Doucette suffered fatal stab wounds and died shortly after the incident.

The suspect was captured on area surveillance video and is described as a male, white, 20 to 30 years of age, medium build, standing 6-foot to 6-foot-2. He was wearing a long dark coat, a flat cap and carrying a bag.

Hamilton Homicide Unit Detectives have been actively investigating this murder and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for the murder of Ricky Doucette.
